Exhibit gimmicks

Over and over again, some of the same ideas for cool things to do in exhibits come up in planning conversations. Do I keep bringing them up, or do we all? Here are some:

Colorforms
Joseph Cornell boxes
Lenticular images

I think there are others. Today, in a conversation with the Poe house designer, we talked about using trompe l'oeil murals to create a nineteenth-century atmosphere in the gallery area and to include some of the deceptive or off-kilter feeling of Poe's stories. I tried to get the Twain team to do something with this style, but didn't succeed.

Dear Other Readers,
It's time for us to re-frame our relationship to this wonderful blog. Cait's been givinggivinggiving--entertaining and informing us with pictures and words. And most of us have been just soaking it up -- takingtakingtaking. Little did we know that something was desired from us.... But the entent of this blog is conversation, not a monologue, so we need to do our part -- and write comments. Besides, it's fun!

Ive never participated in a blog before but Caitlin's is certainly worth it! I love the variety of postings. I think the trompe l'oeil idea is great. Some day soon we'll all have to take a Caitlin exhibit road trip. In a yr or 2, she'll have so many exhibits, we'll have to take a yr or 2 to drive to them all.
