Noted on the Net

Friend of a friend pointed me to the Ten Most Harmful Books of the 19th and 20th Centuries, a list compiled by 15 institutionalized conservatives. Any guesses, before the spoiler? Select the text block below for a preview.

Marx and Engels, The Communist Manifesto
Kinsey, The Kinsey Report
Dewey, Democracy and Education

Oddly enough, Darwin's Origin of the Species didn't make the first cut, although it did receive an honorable mention.

Dear Rudy,

Nothing on bunnies, so far. We're gonna do something cool with The Black Cat at Poe's house in Philly. You couldn't possibly do worse damage to the story's cat than its narrator did, however.

I'm sending Joe home on Saturday. Please be extra nice to him for the next month. He especially likes it when you race around the back yard in circles like a crazy person. Also, when you greet him at the door by wagging your whole butt. After that month you get to come out here and bring joy to me, too!

I'll get the NPS right on that Cynomys creature's name change.

Oaths to create exhibits? Creepy. Important that oath takers and oath enforcers keep in mind that citizens of this democracy may have quite a range of behaviors and beliefs that we sincerely interpret as patriotic.

I think if they make you take those oaths, they should at least give you a Smokey the Bear hat.

It's Sunday, June 5, and 427 clickers have clicked here. Don't you wish you knew who they were? OK, 25 or so were your mom, and some were your dad, and Joe's sibs, and you and Joe checking, and Rudy...but still...

Dear O.P.,

Actually, I think about 231 were my mom. And who are you?

As for the oath, I'm somewhat reassured that I've sworn to defend The Constitution, and not the government or any branch of it. S'far as I understand, The C allows for quite a range of patriotic behaviors and beliefs.
