Posting takes a fair amount of time, so during Joe's last week here, I didn't post much. Joe left yesterday morning. Moping takes a fair amount of time, too, so I didn't post yesterday, either.

Joe drove straight through, for about 12 hours. This morning, we tested our new visual communication system (thanks to AOL Instant Messenger, which can handle both Mac and PC platforms). With little video cameras attached to our laptops, we sat drinking coffee and reading the paper together. It's not as good as iChat, as Ted will tell you, but it beats the hell out of not seeing Joe at all. He walked around our house with the camera/laptop combination, and I got to see the place for the first time in two months. Bittersweet.

A 12-hour drive? Yikes! I tried to do the 11.5 hours from East Lansing to St. Paul a couple of times, and it nearly killed me. Literally. Falling asleep at the wheel as night descends -- not fun.

Glad he made it home in one piece.

Please be careful about your future moves. Looks like we're going to be moving to DC in a couple of weeks, propelled by ambition and all of the usual suspects. Seeing as some wierd karma had us end up in St. L. a year after you did, you can see why I might have some concerns about your future geography. Understand that I'm vetoing anyplace without good deli or chinese food.

Palley.
